What is Bitcoin Cash?
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a controversial fork of the original Bitcoin blockchain which occurred in August 2017 at block 478558. It is now its own coin and the blockchain prior to the fork is the same as the original Bitcoin blockchain.
One key difference in Bitcoin Cash is that the blocksize was increased from 1 MB to 8 MB to help solve the scaling problem faced by Bitcoin.
Subsequently some developers and other Bitcoin enthusiasts have claimed that Bitcoin Cash is actually the “real” Bitcoin, as it fulfills the promise originally made for Bitcoin of a “Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash.”
Each person who owned Bitcoin when the fork occurred received an equal amount of Bitcoin Cash.
