What does Hashing / Hash Function mean?
Hashing or a Hash Function is a function which converts variable data into an alphanumeric code.
Hashing is a cryptographic function that was created to allow for rapid retrieval of complex or long data strongs, since the alphanumeric code is typically much shorter and easier to compute.
As an added benefit, hashes serve to encrypt data, making it secret and secure from third parties without permission to access the data.
Because blockchains are built with hash functions as part of their methodology, the security of any blockchain is dependent on the difficulty of cracking the hash function used in the blockchain.
