What does total coin supply mean?
For many cryptocurrencies, there is a limit on the total number of coins that will ever come into existence, for example, Bitcoin’s total supply is capped at 21 million coins.
When considering coin purchases some investors take this into account because it can affect the potential value of the coin. Simple supply and demand dictates that coins with huge total supply (in excess of billions) would need huge demand as well for price to increase dramatically.
This is one reason some projects have capped total supply, or have burned coins in order to decrease total supply.
